Come with No.8 Tours on your New Zealand shore excursion to experience what’s best about Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty.
Your Rotorua tour will begin by travelling through Tauranga city and along the historic Tauranga Direct Road, a beautiful scenic route not often traveled by the larger coaches; the highlight is crossing through the wild ravine of the Pyes Pa gorge.
Enjoy exclusive panoramic views over the lake and city from the Rotorua Lookout and stand on the edge of ancient crater.
We take a short walk under the high canopy of impressive Giant Redwood trees stretching in excess of 60meters in height to arrive at the head of Hamurana Spring, which expels every hour, over 4.5million litres of gin clear water into Lake Rotorua. Along the way there is a great opportunity to spot one of the many rainbow trout that journey threw to the spring.
After lunching at the Lakeside Café, we travel to Whakarewarewa an authentic “Living Village”; where you will be guided through this historic and original Maori village which was first occupied in 1325. The village boasts geysers, mud pools and the geothermal assets are still used today for cooking and heating. You will enjoy a Maori cultural show performed by the villagers, including the famous war challenge the “Haka”.
We will then visit the Government Gardens and Rotorua waterfront taking in the famous architecture and special wildlife of the area.
On our way home we stop at the impressive Okere falls, perhaps viewing one of the many rafting companies descending them. Continuing onto Kiwi 360, Kiwifruit orchard and gift shop and finishing with the great golden sand beaches leading back to your cruise ship.
